The Karaage Festival's official character, Karaage Samurai Karabei, is a four-year-old boy born in Nakatsu City. Karabei lives at the foot of Mount Yatsumeyama, patrolling daily for the peace of the town while leaving behind his wife and two children. He tends to forget things after taking three steps, but apparently remembers “good things” forever. He appears at events to enliven the Kara-Fes and promote the appeal of karaage.
