They came from Shirakawa-go, a World Heritage site. Their name is inspired by “yui,” the spirit of mutual assistance and cooperation passed down through generations in Shirakawa-go. Since Shirakawa Yui always gets lost when coming down to the city of Gifu, the frog senior Geronsen, from Gero Onsen, always accompanies them.
