Clear Streams Country Gifu mascot character Minamo. Minamo was created in 2008 as a mascot character to promote the Gifu Seiryu National Sports Festival and Gifu Seiryu Games held in 2012. The light blue color is inspired by Gifu Prefecture’s clear streams, while the yellow is said to express the sun and everyone’s smiles. In 2013, Minamo became Gifu Prefecture’s official character and appears at event venues throughout the region to help energize Gifu Prefecture.
