Sukumo City mascot character Hanachan. Hanachan is a seven-year-old girl inspired by a cherry blossom and is said to be named Sakura Hana. She debuted in 2009 wearing a cherry-blossom hair ornament and has become widely known through designs on Sukumo City's website and community buses. She continues to promote Sukumo City as “the village of cherry blossoms” and visits events so more people can learn about it.
