Tomipan, Tomika Town’s mascot character, is a panda character created in 2014 to commemorate the town’s 60th anniversary. Tomika Town has long been prosperous in agriculture, including rice cultivation, and Tomipan is modeled on a bun made with one of the town’s specialties, ancient rice. Tomipan has an ancient hairstyle, and the cape on the back is said to depict the Hanifuri Census, the oldest surviving family register in Japan. Tomipan works hard to promote Tomika Town by appearing at various events around the country.
