Chag upon, Takizawa City’s official character, is a fairy who came down from the forest of Mount Iwate riding a Chag Chag Umakko horse in March 2016. Chag upon is also the city’s sales section chief. To help more people learn about the deliciousness of Takizawa City’s specialty watermelons and apples, Chag upon adds “pon” to the ends of words on Twitter and Facebook while sharing various information, including the town’s appeal, and appears at many events.
