Rikuzentakata City mascot character, Takatano Yume-chan. Based on the city emblem, Yume-chan has a star shining with the light of hope on her head, and ears inspired by the pine trees of Takata Matsubara. She was selected from entries submitted nationwide through a vote by Rikuzentakata City's elementary and junior-high school students, and was created to serve as the city's and children's cheerleader, appearing at events nationwide.
