Iwate Hanamaki Airport image character, Hanappy. Hanappy was created to coincide with the start of use of the airport's new terminal. Both the design and nickname were selected from publicly solicited entries, and the name Hanappy combines Hanamaki's “hana” (flower) and “happy.” Wearing a pink airplane hat, Hanappy welcomes customers at the airport and conducts promotional activities at events.
