Nakanoshima regional mascot Nakanon. Nakanon is a fairy born with a lotus root seedling that came to Nakanoshima in 1923. Nakanon liked Nakanoshima and has lived there ever since. Created with the region’s specialty lotus root as its motif, Nakanon wears the city flower, the lotus, and a lotus leaf on its head and appears at various events to promote beloved Nakanoshima throughout Japan.
