Shimanto City character, Achichi Unagi no Shimacchi. Because 41°C, the highest temperature ever observed domestically, was recorded in Shimanto City in August 2013, character designs were solicited nationwide and this eel fairy was created after being selected from the submissions. Shimacchi livens things up to make Shimanto City even more energetic while interacting with characters from municipalities known for nationwide heat waves. Apparently, touching the heart on his caudal fin brings good luck!?
