Urugi Village image character Urunosuke. Urunosuke was unveiled in September of Heisei 25 (2013) in Urugi Village, “a small mountain settlement surrounded by mountain passes.” The village bird, the Japanese robin, is his motif, and his hat is decorated with the village's specialties: corn, tomatoes, and Japanese ginger. After a nationwide public competition, he was selected by a vote of village residents and is active mainly at events within Nagano Prefecture.
