Toshinaga-kun, Takaoka City's mascot character, debuted in spring 2015 as the PR support captain for the Hokuriku Shinkansen, which opened that spring, modeled on Maeda Toshinaga, the first lord of the Kaga domain. Even after the Shinkansen opened, he appears at events and works hard on PR activities so that more people can learn about his beloved Takaoka City.
