Kamiichi Town's mascot character, Tsurugikun, is a male mountain fairy who supposedly was born in a taro field. His hat represents Mount Tsurugi, his body is a local specialty taro, and the green and blue represent the town's abundant nature. His birthday is February 9 at 9:09, the same as Mount Tsurugi's elevation of 2,999 meters.
