An unofficial mascot character of Oita Prefecture. Sarumaru-kun is a gluttonous monkey who did something a little bad, so the gods attached a giant kabosu to him. To find the key that will remove this kabosu, he travels around Japan wearing a headband marked with a hot spring symbol. Along the way, he tells everyone he meets about the charms of Oita Prefecture and contributes to the local community. He is a rising yuru character attracting attention in Oita Prefecture.
