Kabotan is the mascot character for Oita kabosu. Kabotan, who was also selected as Oita Prefecture's first image character in 2005, is based on the kabosu citrus, a specialty of Oita Prefecture. Kabotan's blood type is 100% kabosu juice, and the heart mark on the belly is a distinctive feature. Kabotan is active mainly in Kyushu and also travels to Tokyo, Tohoku, and elsewhere to appear at events.
