Ryokan-san was a monk from Izumozaki Town, Mishima District, Niigata Prefecture. Apparently, he trained at Entsuji Temple in Tamashima, Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture. He was a master of calligraphy and poetry, but was best at playing with a battledore and shuttlecock. He loves eating his way around and taking leisurely trips, and promoting Niigata and Okayama is his current interest.
