Tochigi Prefecture mascot character, Tochimarukun. Born from a horse chestnut tree in front of Tochigi Prefectural Office, Tochimarukun was created as the mascot character for “Sporek ‘Eco Tochigi’ 2011.” Due to his popularity, he became leader of the Tochigi Prefecture Genki Nico-Niko Section in November 2011 and was promoted to director of the Tochigi Prefecture Genki Nico-Niko Office in April 2014. He shares information on Twitter and appears at events around the region to deliver Tochigi's “energy” and “smiles” nationwide!
