Ja-bo is the official character of Omuta City. He was created to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the city's municipal administration, based on a design by someone from Omuta City. He is an incarnation of the giant serpent inspired by the city's Oherayama, and carries a pickaxe to represent the city that prospered through coal mining. He has gained popularity through designs on bus bodies and license plates, and will continue working to promote Omuta City and help more people learn about it.
