Maruta-kun is the Tsubetsu Town character. Since Tsubetsu Town is known as a place where rugby training camps are held, he is a bear boy wearing a rugby uniform. His log-shaped face is said to be made from a mizunara oak tree found in the town. There is also a Maruta-kun Ondo, and he energetically promotes the appeal of Tsubetsu Town.
