Kurawanko, Hirakata's Tourism Ambassador, was named by combining “kurawanka,” a Kawachi dialect expression meaning “Would you like to eat?” and “wanko,” meaning dog. He is a dog boatman wearing a white loincloth. Since his creation in 2005, he has appeared at various events while sharing Hirakata City's appeal and other information on Twitter, Facebook, and elsewhere.
