Totsukawa Komezō, a tourism public-relations character, debuted in 2015 in Shintotsukawa Town, one of Hokkaido’s leading rice-producing areas. The rice symbol on the chest is his trademark. He promotes Shintotsukawa Town while carrying around his favorite alcohol and goes out to events and elsewhere to help more people come and visit.
