Noguni Imocchi, the character of the Noguni Sōkan Festival Executive Committee, was created in Kadena Town to commemorate 400 years since sweet potatoes were brought from China to the Ryūkyū Kingdom. Kadena Town’s specialty is Noguni imo, and there is also a monument inscribed with the Noguni Imo Declaration. Several shops in the town sell sweets and other products made with Noguni imo. Noguni Imocchi appears at events and elsewhere while sharing the appeal and information of Noguni imo and Kadena Town on Facebook and elsewhere.
