Nemurō, Nemuro City’s tourism mascot character, is a male owl born in Nemuro who loves local specialties crab and saury. He always looks sleepy but is apparently properly awake! Nemurō promotes and enlivens Nemuro City by sharing various information and the city’s appeal on Twitter, adding “rō” to the ends of words, and by welcoming large passenger ships and appearing at events around the country.
