Yamechamaru, the Yame Tea mascot character, was created by the Fukuoka Prefecture Tea Industry Promotion Council in 2007 with a kyūsu in mind and was named “Yamechamaru” in 2008. He appears at events and elsewhere to promote Yame Tea together with the slogan “Fukuoka’s Yame Tea has good color, good taste, and good aroma.”
