Kiiko is Kikonai Town's official character. A boy modeled on the locally produced Hakodate Wagyu beef, Kiiko has a red body said to evoke the red setting sun at Cape Saraki. Kiiko also serves as Kikonai Station's Shinkansen tourism stationmaster and promotes the town through a blog and appearances at events.
