Haramura mascots Pikatan, Serorin, and Yappy. Haramura lies in the highland area at the western foot of the Yatsugatake Mountains, with abundant nature, clear air, and thriving cultivation of highland vegetables. These characters were created in 2001 to represent the village’s appeal. Pikatan, on the left, represents the beautiful stars visible in Haramura and expresses residents’ desire to love and protect the village’s natural environment. Serorin, in the center, represents celery, which has the highest production volume in Japan among highland vegetables, and is said to be the leading character pulling Haramura forward. Yappy, on the right, represents Yatsugatake, indispensable to Haramura’s development and a spiritual anchor for its residents.
