Official local character of Shimukappu Village: Shimukappī. She is a girl born in August 2014, modeled on the Ezo sable, which also inhabits Hokkaido and Shimukappu Village. Since Shimukappu Village is surrounded by mountains, she wears a hat decorated with mountains, the village flower azalea, and maple leaves, and carries a cup made from a forest tree for drinking milk. She adds “pī” to the ends of her words and appears at events while sharing various information about Shimukappu Village on Twitter.
