Dashinosuke is the character of the Wakkanai Tourism Association Young Entrepreneurs' Group. Dashinosuke is based on the wild seals that appear at Wakkanai's Bakkai Port and supposedly ate so much favorite Rishiri kombu that the lower half of the body turned into kombu. Dashinosuke enjoys seafood caught in the waters near Wakkanai and works hard in promotional activities.
