Iwamichan♪ is Iwamizawa's specialty-products image character. Iwamizawa City has Hokkaido's largest planted areas for rice, onions, and wheat, and the character is based on an onion with a headband wrapped around her head. From the designs and nicknames solicited nationwide, five entries were shortlisted and selected by a public vote. Iwamichan♪ was created in 2010 and works hard to promote Iwamizawa City's agricultural products through merchandise sales and appearances at events.
