Gotsu City's yuru-chara, Hitoshimaro-kun and Yosami-hime, are the Asuka-period poet Kakinomoto no Hitomaro and his wife Yosami-hime, who traveled through time to the present day as Gotsu Manyo ambassadors. They appear and work at many events for Gotsu City, with which they have a connection.
