The Yuu-kun and Sui-chan characters were created after works were solicited from amateur designers across Japan in 1991 to revitalize Kyogoku Town, then selected through votes by local elementary and junior high school students and by the tourism association. The two energetically promote Kyogoku Town while representing the Yotei Fuki-dashi Spring.
