The mascot characters of Joetsu City, Joetsu Chugitai Kenkenzu consist of three characters. The leader in the white hood is Kenshin-kun, inspired by Uesugi Kenshin. In the middle is Kenken, inspired by the dog helped by Naoe Kanetsugu in Tenchijin. On the right, wearing a blue hood, is Kanetsugu-kun, inspired by Naoe Kanetsugu. The three promote and represent Joetsu City, Uesugi Kenshin's hometown.
