Ōshima District character Ō-chan. Created with fireflies and Koshihikari rice as motifs based on ideas from elementary school children, Ō-chan’s full name is apparently “Ōshima = hotaru = Koshihikari = Jōetsu.” Ō-chan appears at various events mainly in Jōetsu City and is active while sharing the appeal and information of Ōshima District on Twitter and elsewhere.
