Uppī and Yappy

Uda City's mascot characters, Uppī and Yappy (Uppī and Yappī). Uppī is Uda City's mascot character, created through a nationwide public call for designs to energetically promote Uda City. Uppī is a lily-of-the-valley fairy modeled on the city's flower, with the city's bird, the Japanese bush warbler, perched on the head. Yappy is Uda City's Kiki and Manyō mascot character, modeled on the Yatagarasu. As 2020 marked 1,300 years since the completion of the Nihon Shoki, Yappy shares information about attractions and events related to the Nihon Shoki and the Man'yōshū through Twitter and other means. Both appear at many events wearing the city emblem on their chests.
