Ranzan Town mascot character Musashi Ranmaru. Because Ranzan Town has several forests inhabited by the great purple emperor, Japan’s national butterfly, he is a boy dressed as a samurai who wears a helmet modeled on the butterfly. He was born in 2011. While living in the satoyama of the town, he cleans tourist sites and visits various events to promote Ranzan Town throughout Japan.
