Moroyama Town mascot character Moro-maru-kun. This character debuted in October 2010 to commemorate the 55th anniversary of Moroyama Town’s merger. He is a boy wearing the costume of yabusame, which has a history of over 900 years in the town. Because Moroyama Town is Japan’s oldest yuzu-producing area, his face is modeled on the town’s specialty yuzu, and a chrysanthemum, the town flower, is designed on his chest. He appears at many events and shares information through blogs and elsewhere so that more people can learn about Moro-maru-kun and Moroyama Town’s charms. Sweets and various goods have also been made, and he is gaining popularity.
