Umemaru is Odawara City’s tourism PR character, created in Heisei 1 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the city’s municipal government. His face is modeled on a plum, a specialty of Odawara City. His red armor is based on the 400th anniversary of the Battle of Odawara. Catchphrase: “～gozaru.”
