Delivering the appeal of books and the local area! We are the friendly pair Tsuru-san and Mitarashi♪ Tsuru-san is a crane postman who loves books. His signature features are a red hat and a large red bag containing scrolls. He is loved by everyone as the mascot of Shinjuku City Tsurumaki Library. In autumn 2025, Mitarashi, a red-crowned crane chick, joined the group! Following Tsuru-san's example, Mitarashi wears a red hat and carries a large scroll on their back. The two cranes are currently doing a great job promoting the library and appearing at events. They go out around the Waseda, Ushigome, and Tsurumakicho neighborhoods and share original information through “Tsuru-san's Letters” and Instagram! They are helping energize the entire library and surrounding area. Please support these two birds who connect books, people, and the “local community”!
