Yurinoki-chan was created in 2012, together with Tohaku-kun, to commemorate the Tokyo National Museum’s 140th anniversary and convey the museum’s appeal. Her motif is the flowers of the Japanese tulip tree in front of the Main Building, the museum’s symbolic tree.
