Toronyan

Toronyan, Nagatoro Town’s official mascot character, is an apprentice boatman for river rafting, a popular activity in Nagatoro. His hat, which looks like shaved ice, is decorated with patches of cherry blossoms and wintersweet, the town’s flowers, while his eyes sparkle like the flow of the Arakawa River and the mountain ranges of Nagatoro Town. His favorite food is shaved ice! For Toronyan, time spent gazing at Nagatoro’s magnificent natural scenery while eating shaved ice on Iwadatami, a nationally designated place of scenic beauty and natural monument, on a hot summer day is bliss. Though he can be a little timid, Toronyan has a gentle heart and is kind to everyone. He is also very curious and works hard every day to share Nagatoro Town’s appeal with everyone!
