Matsunaga PR character Matsu-kun was unveiled in 2015, with the Issun broad bean as its motif. The Wakasa region, where Matsunaga in Obama City is located, is apparently well suited to cultivating Issun broad beans, which are harvested in early summer. Born from a design by local elementary school students, Matsu-kun works hard to promote the Matsunaga area by visiting various events.
