Snowman fairy Okura-kun. The world’s largest snowman is a winter tradition of Okura Village, known for heavy snowfall. In 1995, a giant snowman about 29 meters high appeared and was apparently registered in the Guinness Book of Records. Okura-kun was created with such snowmen as his motif, and his red hat is apparently made from tomatoes, a specialty of Okura Village. He appears at many events while sharing the village’s attractions and information on Facebook, promoting Okura Village to many people.
