Kakamaru, the mascot character of the Yabuzuka Scarecrow Festival, was created by the Youth Division of the Ota City Nitta Chamber of Commerce. Kakamaru works to promote and enliven the Yabuzuka Scarecrow Festival, held every autumn. Modeled on a scarecrow, Kakamaru apparently loves the small watermelons that are a specialty of Yabuzuka.
