Shimosuwa Tourism Promotion character Yashimaru. Modeled on the Schlegel's green tree frog inhabiting the Yashima Wetlands of Shimosuwa, whose call is said to have been selected as one of Japan's 100 Soundscapes. Yashimaru loves “the delicious air and delicious water of Yashima” and appears at many events to promote Shimosuwa Town.
