Gujo City mascot Gujo Rara-chan. This character was born in March 2014, when Gujo City marked the 10th anniversary of its merger and city administration, and was unveiled in May. Ayu, the city fish, is the motif, while the city tree, maple, and city flower, magnolia kobus, adorn her head. Her name combines “Gujo” with “Ryo,” from the two clear rivers flowing through the city, the Nagara River and the Wara River, forming “Gujo Rara.” Wearing the city emblem on her chest, she will continue working for Gujo City.
