Cactus characters Kasugai Cactus Characters (Haruyo, Himaru, and Inosuke). Stylish Haruyo has a cactus flower blooming on her head; energetic Himaru is a glutton; and Inosuke wears a haniwa, is quiet and shy, and enjoys doing laundry. The first characters of their names combine to form Kasugai. Aichi Prefecture became active in cactus cultivation from the Taisho era, and Kasugai City became Japan’s top producer of seedlings after overcoming typhoon damage and other hardships.
