Asae Shopping Association character: Hikaru-chan. She appeared in 2014, when the city marked its 10th anniversary, after undergoing “mega evolution” to deliver “the smiles and energy of Hikari City.” Her blue body represents the calm Seto Inland Sea, while her tousled bangs represent waves reaching the Murozumi Coast. The yellow star on her hat is the chrysanthemum-family flower Nijigahama chrysanthemum, which grows wild in Hikari City's Asae district. She appears at events while sharing information about Hikari City and the Asae district on Facebook and elsewhere.
