Tokuyama's authorized character. Tokuyama is a comprehensive chemical manufacturer headquartered in Shunan City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is a long-established company founded in 1918. Tanusuke was actually born in the forests of Mount Tsukuba in Tsukuba City, Ibaraki Prefecture. A leaf picked up on Mount Tsukuba is his treasure. They say his tail became striped because he wished for everyone's safety. His name isn't “Tanukichi”—it's “Tanusuke”! He'd be happy if everyone remembers that.
