Nishikyō Ward mascot characters: Nishikyō and Takenyon. They were created in February 2014 after winning the mayor's award with the most votes among 3,300 submitted designs, and unveiled in June. Nishikyō is a boy born from Nishikyō Ward's bamboo grove, with a crown-like head as his charming feature. The character held by Nishikyō is Takenyon, inspired by Nishikyō Ward's specialty bamboo shoots. Together with their friends Nadegame-chan and Kakipon, they work hard to promote Nishikyō Ward's attractions!
