Higashikurume City PR mascot character Rurume-chan. Born in Higashikurume City, home to the Ochiai River and Minamisawa Springs, selected among the 100 Remarkable Waters of the Heisei era, Rurume-chan is a spring-water fairy holding Yanagikubo wheat, once called a phantom wheat variety, with her pockets full of vegetables harvested in the city. She works hard to promote the appeal of Higashikurume City throughout Japan.
